Americans eager to speak Hindi

This  article published on 26th Nov 2006 says that Americans are now started learning Hindi. Nearly 80-90 per cent of enrolments at graduate level language programme in US universities are Americans. Quite intersting...

Also Chinese are also showing some intrest in learning Hindi. Few days back I was surfing through different channels on my TV, I saw a Chinse guy on one news channel. As a chinese learner I thought to try to understand what he was saying. But to my surprise he was talking in Hindi. Though at first it sounded more like chinese then hindi ;-), but it was infact hindi.

Many westners are now intrested in Indo & Asian languages, and vice versa. I think we are hiding towards a new globalized world, what do you say.. ????

Wow! I know a LOT of people here in the States that I talk to don't even know what country hindi is from :(. All my fellow hindi learners are mainly doing so so we can watch our beloved Bollywood movies without subtitles.. though i know business people are interested in all thats going on over there economically so they're probably taking such classes too. I know that there are Very, very few schools i've been able to find that teach hindi though! My college certainly doesn't, so i'm on my own :(.

But yes.. globalization is definately occuring!
