Funny conversation in a train

My penpal found it funny, so I thought some of you would think it is funny as well.

This was the real conversation between 2 boys wearing business suits in a train in Japan. They looked about 20 years old or so and were talking about English spelling, and giving some quiz to each other. Of course they were speaking Japanese, so I translated it for you. Enjoy!

Boy A: "ok, can you spell 3?"
Boy B: "ah, yea, i've seen it somewhere...S..SR... something"
(Boy A looked at his cell phone for the answer)
Boy A: "...the answer is T-H-R-E-E."
Boy B: "oh no, T-H what? it's too long, let's do a short one"
Boy A: "ok, how about 8?"
Boy B: "i'm not sure, easier one please."
Boy A: "well, then how about Inu (dog)"
Boy B: "i know it! D-O...C-K!!"
