Where does Santa Claus put Christmas present for kids in Japan?

I've heard that you hang a sock on a fireplace and then Santa puts a present in it when he sneaks nto your house from a chimney. but what if a house doesn't have a chimney?

You know, normal Japanese houses don't have a chimney. Where do you think he puts a present then?
Under a Christmas tree? - No, most of the Christmas trees in Japanese houses are like 5-feet tall or smaller, so there would not be enough space to put presents.
In a mailbox? - That would be very formal but unfortunately no, because big presents cannot fit in there.
In a yard? - No, dogs would open it before the kids do...
Knocks the door and passes it to their parents at night? - oh that would be a nice idea but no...

The answer is that Santa puts a present by the kid's bed, not in a sock. oh poor Santa, he could be detected by the kids more easily in Japan than in other western countries :P

Well, where Santa put presents for kids in your country if a house doesn't have a chimney? by the bed as well?

I think xmas is celebrated more like valentine's day in Asia where couples doing something romantic together.

that's right. No adult who is single think they should celebrate Christmas with their family. but those who have family and little kids celebrate it with their family because kids are looking forward to getting a present from Santa!(actually it's not like "celebrate". it's more like just "enjoy")

I think here in Chile presents are all put under the xmas tree (i'd never thought they could be put in the bed), the sock in the chimney is just decorative. And here at least in this zone (south) people gather in a family dinner (new year is a different situation). Maybe someone from a different zone can say a different thing

Wow, presents are put by the bed in Japan... yeah, it seems that it couldn't be easier to detect Santa there, hehehe. As Mankeke said, here in Chile the presents are put under the tree. We also have a family dinner here (well... in my family at least, it turns out to be a big reunion and we invite all our relatives and even some friends. The house is small for such amount of people, so we make reservations and eat out in a restaurant).

I guess each country adopt different version of xmas.

oh sock in chimney is just for decoration? that's good to hear, i was wondering how big it would be... hmm, what you do for Christmas in Chile is like what we do for New year. That's interesting that each country has different style of Christmas ;)
