Out of bordom I thought I would post about this.
First of all I am not a big fan of skype but that doesn't mean I am going to totaly doom it to hell.
Secondly lets look at our the other options we have for other programs that do just as good or better.
Lets go over the 2 words we are going to be using that airn't known by all first.
1. IM = Instant Messager or Instant Message
2. VOIP = Voice Over Internet Protocol
Of couse if you have something like windows Live Messager or MSN then you know what IM is. IM is a program that sends and recives messages instantly or the act of sending a message instantly via PC, Cellphone(SMS), or other wi-fi devices.
VOIP sounds important and complicated but its almost the same as IM but with Voice.
When ever you pick up your phone you are infact using VOIP to talk to others
The most known Instant messagers are
1. Yahoo Messager aka YMessager
2 MSN aka windows Live Messager
3. AIM aka AOL's messager
All 3 of these messagers support VOIP and are not bad programs but lets look at how there differate and the same.
Ymessager VS MSN
Both can acess the same user network with means I could add someone on yahoo if i was on MSN and vise versa.
MSN has better webcam quality and gives you acess to windows Live Spaces for your web profile.
Ymessager on the other hand has a full range of chat rooms and has a fully intagrated telephony feature.
You could say these 2 messagers are no short then sisters to each other.
Ymessager and MSN VS AIM
Aol has been on its downfall since the creation of Broadband (Or so I want to think so)
All 3 messager have been deemed in the past to phish personal data.
I'm not going to say AIM is bad but it's peak of greatness was along time ago
Now lets look at some other more unknown IM and VOIP clients.
I personally have been using this one for over 2 years now.
4. Xfire
Xfire is directed to Gamers or people that play PC games
Xfire supports VOIP to the fullest with a staggering duel channal 128 bitrate stream
128 bitrate is a crystal clear steam when it comes to voice.
Xfire also supports text based chat on a ampped scale.
Text chatting out side of a full screen app is a given but when your in a full screen app like "Call of Duty 4" you can still recive in game messages.
(I dont recommend chatting when gaming COD4 lol)
This stuff is basics though but if you are a pc gamer then the perks really start to add up.
Perk 1. Xfire tracks your hours of gameplay
Just as a demo i am going to supply a link to my profile so you can see what I mean

Or just http://profile.xfire.com/chronocalamity
Look at that profile will pretty much explain everything else lets move on.
MASS VOIP clients
By saying Mass VOIP Client I mean multiable people connected
Theres alot out there but im just going to list 2 of them.
1. Teamspeak
2. Ventrillo
Teamspeak can support 100 people voice chatting at once easily.
Teamspeaks common bitrate is 25 kbs witch isn't too bad, its about the same quality as a telephone but teamspeak takes up almost no system power to run and it is easy to use and set up.
Teamspeak is just awesome in a nut shell.
I currently own a small teamspeak server that if you want to try it out for yourself then you can connect to it.
I will post the IP to it and how to connect.
The IP to my server is: ts1.myteamspeakhost.com:8772
I have 2 video tutorials on how to connect and use teamspeak and ill post links to then also.

http://www.dailymotion.com/chronocalamity/video/x5qpt0_teamspeak-tutorial-part-2_videogames
The second video was sorta a fail but its still a tutoial all the same.
Ventrillo is pretty much the same as teamspeak but it has better voice quialty.
Ventrillo takes up a bit more system requirements but has more options like comments and odds and ends.
Ventrillo on the other hand does not support voice activated chatting very well.
i'm going to leave it at that.
This wraps up the blog about IM and VOIP clients
Please forgive me for any misspelled words
