I felt terrible when I read books written in English...

Ironically, I, being an English teacher, found myself dozing and confused while reading books written in English...which perfectly reveals that I'm a terrible reader (or a terrible language learner as well?) anyways as i bought the books associated with english language learning and teaching, I started reading for a few hours yesterday and found out I couldn't really remember what i read...basically just like browsing and then half of the points read were forgotten. Maybe the information read was new to me, therefore, it needs more time to be remembered in order to be internalized... terrible, which means language learning is similar to what i experienced: you learn, and then you forget half of what you learnt (at the end of the day). Thus, it goes through a series of processes/practices in order to be internalized and thus you learnt it. Eventually, you learnt the target language and knowledge and you're be able to use it automatically coz it's stuck in ur heart. Question: Then how long does it take for one to be able to internalize for what he/she learns??!

It depends on one's interest I suppose... Sacha (xlingo)
