[Sticky] [♣~OL] Welcome!
I'm Teri, and I'm the maker of this group.
I am hoping to get a few members to join.
I speak English and wish to learn many oriental languages. I want friends who also want to do this, or friends that can help me! I will help improve your English also~
Feel free to leave a comment~
Hi, it's glad to join this group. I am fluent in Chinese-Mandarin, and can listen a bit of Chinese-MinNan. Besides, I also like some music (especially old romantic songs) of Mandarin, Chinese-Cantonese, Japanese and English.
Hey Stanley!
Thank you so much for joining this group.
I like a lot of mandarin songs~
Especially romantic ones. I love Oriental music, so that's a good talking point right? I am not really familiar with old songs however, the only songs I listen to that are quite old are Korean. (Or English obviously.) Care to tell me any of your particular favourites? I am looking forward to hearing~
Good day to you~
One of my favorites is Leslie Cheung (張國榮 in Chinese). He was a famous actor and signer born in Hong Kong, but committed suicide on April Fools’ Day 2003 *sigh*. You can see his biography in the following WIKI page.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leslie_Cheung
I like his Chinese-Cantonese songs, although I can’t fully understand it. (My degree of Chinese-Cantonese is almost as good as yours *laugh*.) I like the rhythm, his voice, and the sentimental lyrics. Sometimes I think that “the tone of Chinese words spoken in Cantonese” might be the most charming part for me. Haha.
Two memorable songs are found in YouTube,
1. For Your Love Only (為你鍾情in Chinese)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DtC-fnrtk1o
It can be taken as a proposing or marry song.
(Haahaa.. the MV is very very OLD; therefore, Leslie looks so funny)
2. Youth (童年時 in Chinese)
(animated version by someone) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LhXbVjmyvjs)
(original MV) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MUpU5q4Lpp4
It describes a story of two young lovers.
How about you? Who are your favorites? Do you know t.A.T.u.? They are also my favorite singers.
Too many things can be written. I have to stop to breath. See you.
Wow, that was a very big reply. Thank you for taking out some of your time to type all that, haha.
I do think his voice is very good. It has a charming edge to it and I love that. I cannot listen to the songs the whole way through at the moment, so I'll save them and feedback sometime later. Well. Isn't he a handsome man. Haha!
Some of my favourites? Let me see.
Indeed I know of t.A.T.u. They have some good songs, however this style of music they make is not my favourite. Some of my favourite Chinese singers, (and my favourite song of theirs) which you may or not be familiar with are:
Jay Chou. Song:

Pan Wei Bo. Song:

Well those are a few. Maybe they aren't the style you listen to but I am very fond of these songs.
I hope to talk to you soon. ^_^
Ni hao Teri, ("ni hao" is Chinese, and it means 'Hello')
Today was a busy day....
Ha.. I can't believe that you know Chou! I just watched his movie, "Secret" (written, directed and acted by Chou), in last month. Yes, he is a famous creative singer in the greater China area. He is so cool, cute and smart that many Asian girls love this style. Can you share with me why you like him?
Two of his songs are in my favorite MP list: Nocturnes (夜曲) and Clear Day (晴天).
I am not familiar with Pan Wei Bo, although all of my junior schoolmates know him. (*cry* it must be my advisor's fault. He always pushes me too far, so I can't watch TV.... However, well, I guess I will know him in 2010 when his songs become 'old songs.' ^^ )
PS: Do you know Ken Hirai? He is a Japanese singer. I like his voice too. Here is a tearing MV, (named 'close my eyes' ), and wish you like it:
